The AI receptionist answers on a dedicated phone line assigned to your business — you keep your existing published number, and forwarding is what connects the two. Until forwarding is set up, the AI cannot answer your calls.
1. Find your AI line
Open Dashboard → Services → AI Voice Agent. Your assigned line appears in the configuration panel. If it shows as pending assignment, the number has not been issued yet — finish onboarding, or contact support if it stays pending.
2. Choose a forwarding style
You set forwarding up with your phone carrier, not inside Sovereign. Two common patterns:
- Conditional forwarding (recommended to start) — calls ring your phone first and only go to the AI when you are busy or don't answer. You miss nothing, and the AI catches what you used to lose.
- Full forwarding — every call goes straight to the AI. Useful after hours or when you're on jobs all day.
Carrier dial codes differ (many US carriers use codes like *72 to enable and *73 to disable full forwarding, with separate codes for busy/no-answer forwarding) — check your carrier's documentation or ask their support for "conditional call forwarding" to a specific number.
3. Test before you rely on it
Call your published business number from another phone:
- Confirm the AI answers with your business name.
- Confirm you hear the AI disclosure up front — that's deliberate and required.
- Ask to book a job and check the request shows up under Dashboard → Bookings and in your lead inbox.
Emergencies still reach a human
The voice agent watches for emergency keywords (burst pipe, flood, fire, no heat, and similar) and follows your configured emergency action — by default transferring to the emergency phone number you set in the voice settings.
Turning it off
Disable forwarding at your carrier at any time (for example *73 on many US carriers for full forwarding). Your AI line stays assigned to you either way.
