Google connects from Dashboard → Connections. It uses standard Google OAuth: click Connect, sign in with the Google account that owns your business data, and approve the requested access. You can disconnect from the same page at any time.
What it powers today
- Website traffic reporting — the analytics dashboard's website-traffic card reads your GA4 sessions and users once Google is connected. Without the connection, that card shows a connect prompt instead of numbers (it never shows placeholder data).
What the extra scopes are for
The connection also requests Calendar, Business Profile, and Search Console scopes. Those are for features in development and do not power anything yet — we ask up front so you won't have to re-authorize later. If a feature description anywhere implies otherwise, trust the Connections page: it reflects the real state.
Review monitoring is separate
Review monitoring in the reputation service uses platform-level review sources, configured per service — it is not switched on by this OAuth connection. The reputation dashboard tells you explicitly when review monitoring is or isn't connected.
What the status labels mean
The Connections page reports one of four honest states:
- Connected — real credentials for YOUR account are stored. This is never shown without them.
- Disconnected — the platform supports this connection, but your account hasn't connected yet.
- Error — a stored connection is broken (for example, an expired token). Reconnect to fix it.
- Not configured — the platform side of this integration isn't set up yet; connecting isn't possible for anyone right now.
Troubleshooting
If a previously connected Google account shows Error, click Reconnect and re-approve access. This is common after a Google password change or a periodic re-authentication requirement on Google's side.
